Engineered for aerospace, the precision machined parts for industrial equipment in Titanium Grade 5 reaches thermal resistance. Fins measure at pitch; the base is verified flat to before dispatch.
Design Approach and Process
Because the base and fins are pressed as one piece, there is no brazed joint to fail. flatness on the mounting face is held directly from the tool, which keeps thermal interface contact uniform.
Low fin gauge is where stamping wins: fins at pitch give more surface per cubic millimetre than a machined or extruded profile of the same envelope.
Stamped construction tolerates batch variation better than extrusion: die wear shows up first as a measurable shift in fin pitch, which inspection catches at rather than in the field.
One supplier now covers to fin gauges from the same press family, so a thermal redesign is a tooling change rather than a new vendor.
The electropolish Ra 0.2 finish is applied after forming, so corrosion protection does not get cut through at the fin roots the way it does on machined alternatives.
Material Selection and Surface Finish
The standard material is Titanium Grade 5, supplied with electropolish Ra 0.2. For applications where aerospace exposure is a concern, we recommend the passivated route; where conductivity matters more than weight, copper C110 raises thermal performance and roughly doubles unit mass.
Tolerance Classes You Can Specify
General dimensions run to , with critical features such as held separately. Formed geometry inherits tooling repeatability of , and hole position is held to . Tighter classes need an extra press operation, so it is worth deciding before tooling rather than after.
Inspection Before Every Shipment
Flatness is checked on a against a limit, and fin pitch is verified optically at . Reports go out with each lot.
Incoming Titanium Grade 5 is checked for thickness and hardness before it enters the press. After forming, confirms and against the drawing.
Flatness is measured on granite rather than on cast iron, because at up to 1000 mm length reads differently on a plate that has not been lapped. Records keep both readings.
We inspect fin tips for burr and crack after forming, because stamping can split a root without shifting any drawing dimension. Burr limit is set per part.
Where This Part Is Used
In aerospace, the rating determines how much airflow the enclosure still needs. At aerospace junction temperatures, fins at pitch keep the delta-T inside the sensor budget.
aerospace customers typically specify Titanium Grade 5 for corrosion reasons and then hold the drawing to . The line absorbs the volume without a second source.
aerospace packaging and vibration rules push toward one-piece construction. A stamped precision machined parts for industrial equipment has no adhesive to creep, which is the usual failure mode in two-part coolers.
For aerospace prototypes, 5 working days covers drawing review and first article. Production lots move to 15 working days once the capability is signed off.

FAQ: Your Questions Before Ordering
How do you verify quality on each batch?
Every lot is inspected with , and the report is included in the shipment. We check , , and hole position against . Lot traceability from coil to carton is kept for 10 years.
Which materials do you recommend?
Titanium Grade 5 is the standard choice. For aerospace in a corrosive environment we specify 6063-T5 with electropolish Ra 0.2; for the highest conductivity we move to copper C110, which raises cost and weight but drops thermal resistance by roughly half at the same envelope.
Can the precision machined parts for industrial equipment be powder coated or plated?
Yes. Standard is electropolish Ra 0.2. Powder coating to RAL 9005 adds about 0.1 mm to the base; zinc-nickel is better for grounding. Note that any added coating sits between Titanium Grade 5 and the airflow, so we do not coat the fin roots.
Do you provide CAD files or a drawing?
We supply a 2D drawing with the CMM report, and 3D STEP on request. Both show flatness callouts and tooling split lines, which matters if you are checking in your own assembly.
How do you prevent galvanic corrosion?
The key is avoiding a second metal at the wet contact area. We recommend electropolish Ra 0.2 and, where the part touches an aluminium chassis, an isolating washer. Tell us the mating material and we will specify the coating accordingly.
How We Manufacture and Ship
Our aerospace experience runs back to the first tooling programme in 2015. That history is why the standard electropolish Ra 0.2 and are conservative rather than optimistic.
Production runs on cycles with in-line vision on . That is what keeps a commitment credible in peak season.
Quality staff sit beside the press, not in a separate room. Deviations on or stop the run at the tool rather than at final inspection.
