How ER Collet Chucks Grip Tooling Without Runout

An ER collet nut set works by compressing a slotted collet inward onto the tool shank. The nut’s internal taper angle (exactly 8 degrees for ER series) matches the collet’s external taper, creating a uniform radial force around the entire circumference.
