Brass (C26000, C26800, C27200) gives you 28% IACS conductivity — that is 28 million siemens per meter. That beats stainless steel by 40x and is only 15% below pure copper. But the real reason engineers pick stamped brass terminals is spring force. Our grain structure is controlled during stamping so the contact arm holds 80% of its initial force after 10,000 cycles. We test this on every die lot. If you need higher conductivity, we offer a selective silver or tin plating option that adds 0.2 µm to 0.5 µm thickness without changing the base dimension.
A stamped terminal fails when burr height exceeds 0.05 mm or when the flatness warps after bending. Every batch — even a 100-piece sample — goes through a 2.5D optical projector and a digital micrometer. We measure 5 critical dimensions per part: contact gap, terminal width, bend angle, hole position, and surface finish. For batches over 10,000 pieces, we use a fully automated vision system that checks 100% of parts at 2,000 pieces per hour. Cpk is maintained above 1.67 on all critical features. We send you a full inspection report with each shipment, including a material certificate from the mill. If we find any deviation over ±0.015 mm, the entire lot is quarantined and re-run at our cost.
Bare brass oxidizes fast — you will see tarnish in 48 hours. That is why we offer three standard surface finishes: matte tin plating (2–4 µm), bright tin plating (3–5 µm), and selective silver plating (2–3 µm) on the contact area only. The selective plating saves you 30% cost versus full silver. We also do nickel underplating (1–2 µm) to stop copper migration. Surface roughness after plating is Ra 0.8 on the contact face and Ra 1.6 on the body. Stamped brass terminals arriving at your assembly line with green corrosion is a nightmare.
