Product details

This is a Cnc Turned Precision Shafts product line from BQUQ, a 20-year-old factory in Dongguan, China. We machine shafts to ±0.005mm tolerance, 0.008mm roundness, and Ra 0.4 surface finish—with hardness up to HRC 58 after heat treatment. Typical lead time is 3-5 days for prototypes and 7-10 days for production runs of 1,000 pieces.

How We Hold 0.005mm Tolerance on Long Thin Shafts

Long shafts flex during turning. That is the main cause of taper and ovality. We solve this with live centers and steady rests on every shaft longer than 150mm. Our CNC lathes use hydraulic chucks with adjustable gripping force—so we do not crush thin-walled sections. For shafts with length-to-diameter ratio above 10:1, we switch to between-centers turning. This eliminates deflection and holds straightness within 0.01mm per 300mm of length. We also compensate for thermal growth in the machine spindle by running a warm-up cycle before every precision batch.

Materials and Heat Treatment We Use for Shafts

We stock 1045, 4140, 4340, 440C, 17-4PH, and 6061-T6 for shaft production. For high-wear applications, we harden to HRC 50-58 using induction or through-hardening. We do not outsource heat treatment—our in-house furnace and cryogenic chamber give us full control over distortion. After hardening, we grind to final tolerance. If you need case-hardened shafts, we use carburizing to a depth of 0.5-1.5mm. For stainless shafts in food or medical use, we passivate after machining to remove free iron and improve corrosion resistance.

Surface Finish and Hard Turning vs. Grinding

We use hard turning for shafts up to HRC 62 when the geometry allows. This eliminates the need for a separate grinding step and cuts cost by 30%. With CBN inserts, we achieve Ra 0.4 finish directly from the lathe. For mirror finishes below Ra 0.2, we move to cylindrical grinding with a super-abrasive wheel. Our standard surface finish options are Ra 0.8 for general use, Ra 0.4 for bearing seats, and Ra 0.2 for hydraulic pistons. We also offer roller burnishing to close porosity and improve fatigue life on high-stress fillets.

Inspection Before Every Shipment—Not Just Spot Checks

Every shaft gets a full dimensional check. We do not sample. Our inspection reports include outside diameter at three points, total runout, roundness, and surface finish. We use a Zeiss CMM for geometric tolerances and a Taylor Hobson profilometer for Ra. For runout, we use a V-block and dial indicator with 0.001mm resolution. Each batch ships with a material certificate and a dimensional report signed by our QC engineer. If you need PPAP Level 3, we provide that too—just tell us at the quoting stage.

Why We Accept No MOQ on Shafts—Even for R&D

Most CNC shops in China refuse orders under 100 pieces. We do not. Our machining center is set up for flexible batch sizes. We run single-piece prototypes for engineering validation and scale to 10,000 pieces without changing tooling. For a one-off shaft, you pay a small setup fee—but we waive it if you place a production order within 60 days. This is how we support product developers who need to test before committing to volume. No MOQ also means you can order replacement shafts for legacy equipment without buying a year of inventory.

Packaging and Rust Protection for Export

Shafts are ground and clean—they rust fast without protection. We apply VCI (vapor corrosion inhibitor) paper and dip the shafts in anti-rust oil before wrapping. Each shaft is individually sleeved in foam or placed in a partitioned wooden crate, depending on length. For air freight, we use moisture-barrier bags with desiccant. Our export packaging has survived 40-foot containers to Europe and North America without a single rust claim in the last 5 years. We mark every box with your PO number and our batch code for full traceability.

What is the minimum order quantity for Cnc Turned Precision Shafts?

No MOQ—we accept one piece for prototyping and scale up to any volume.

Can you machine shafts with keyways, threads, or cross holes?

Yes, we add milling and drilling operations on the same machine or a secondary CNC mill, with tolerances matched to your drawing.

How do you control quality on high-volume shaft orders?

We use SPC (statistical process control) with in-process gauging every 20 pieces and a final 100% inspection of critical dimensions.

What is your standard lead time for shaft production?

Prototypes ship in 3-5 days; production runs of 500-5,000 pieces ship in 7-10 days after drawing approval.
