Zinc plating gives a sacrificial layer that corrodes before the underlying SPCC steel does. Our clear trivalent passivation adds 72 hours of neutral salt spray resistance per ASTM B117. That means your bracket survives in a 40°C, 85% RH environment for five years without red rust. For automotive underhood clips, we can upgrade to yellow zinc for 120 hours of salt spray—just specify on your drawing.
We run progressive dies with a fixed punch-to-die clearance of 5% of material thickness. This holds stamped hole positions to ±0.05mm and keeps burr height under 0.08mm on the cut edges. For clips that snap onto sheet metal edges, we add a coining step to flatten the bend radius to 0.2mm, preventing stress cracks. Every part is checked with a CMM and optical comparator before packing.
The collection covers five base materials, all in coil form and ready for the press. SPCC cold-rolled steel in 0.5mm to 3.0mm thickness for general brackets. SUS304 stainless for corrosion-heavy marine clips. 65Mn spring steel for locking clips requiring elastic return. C2600 brass for electrical grounding clips. And 5052 aluminum for lightweight heat sink mounting brackets. Material certs are included with each lot.
For 65Mn spring steel clips, we temper to HRC 42 and pre-set the bending angle to 92° to compensate for 2° of spring-back. This ensures the clip’s gripping force stays between 15N and 20N after repeated flexing. Our tool room uses finite element analysis to predict spring-back for every new bend, so you don’t get loose or over-tight clips. Hardness is verified with a Rockwell tester on every 500th piece.
After stamping, parts go through a three-stage wash: alkaline degreasing, reverse osmosis rinse, and hot air drying. Zinc plating is applied in a barrel process at 8-12µm thickness, measured with an X-ray fluoroscope. We skip post-plating oiling unless you request it, because oily residue collects dust and interferes with adhesive bonding. Ra 1.6µm finish is standard, but we can polish to Ra 0.8µm for visible exterior brackets.
Each lot gets a first-article inspection on a Zeiss CMM, checking 12 critical dimensions. A salt spray test per ASTM B117 runs for 72 hours on a sample from every plating batch. For spring clips, we perform a 10,000-cycle flex test to confirm no fatigue fracture. Finally, a visual check under 2x magnification rejects any part with plating skips or scratches. The inspection report ships with your box.
Brackets are nested in compartmentalized corrugated trays, not thrown loose in a bag. Clips are tumbled to remove sharp edges, then packed in anti-static zip-lock bags of 100 pieces each. The outer carton is double-wall, 32 ECT rated, with a moisture barrier film inside. This keeps the zinc surface untouched until you open the box on your line.
