Aluminium Heat Sink Blocks | Machined and Hand Tapped M3-M12
Aluminium heat sink mounting blocks
Heat only moves if the faces actually touch. Our heat sink mounting blocks are cut from 6061 or 6063 aluminium, the mounting face is milled flat, and then every thread is tapped by hand and checked with a go / no-go gauge.
Threads run M3 to M12, depth controlled to plus or minus 0.2 mm, thread perpendicular to the face. Two things we do not ship: a crossed thread, or a half-formed thread that only grips on the last turn.

| Finish | mill, clear anodised or black anodised |
FAQ
Why tap by hand instead of on a machine?
Because tapping on a machine is where cross-threads and broken taps happen on small blocks. Hand tapping with a fixture and a gauge on every hole costs a little more time and gives a thread that a screw goes into by hand.
Can you keep the face flat after anodising?
Yes. The mounting face is masked during anodising, or we anodise first and then mill the face, so the thermal contact is bare aluminium.
Do you supply a thermal interface pad as well?
We can supply a die-cut thermal pad in the same box on request. The block itself is machined aluminium.
How flat does the face need to be for good contact?
Below 0.05 mm per 100 mm is usually enough for a paste interface. If you are running a thin pad or no paste, tell us and we will hold the face tighter.
