Stamped Parts Held to ±0.01 mm | First Article, In-Process, Final Inspection
Stamped parts held to plus or minus 0.01 mm
Ten microns is the window we hold on stamped parts. It is not a claim, it is a process: first article checked against the drawing, in-process measurement while the press runs, and a final inspection before packing.
Critical dimensions are measured on a CMM and by optical measurement, not only with a caliper. If a dimension drifts towards the limit, the press stops and the tool is looked at before more parts are made. Every batch ships with a dimensional report and a material certificate.
Inspection gates
| First article | every feature on the drawing measured before the batch starts |
| In-process | critical dimensions measured while the press runs, tool corrected on the press |
| Final inspection | dimensional check on critical features plus 100 percent visual |
| Equipment | CMM, optical measurement, granite plate, go / no-go gauges |
| Documentation | dimensional report and material certificate with every batch |
FAQ
Is plus or minus 0.01 mm realistic on a stamped part?
Yes, on the features that are formed inside the die and measured from the die itself, for example hole position and pitch. It is not realistic on a bend angle or on an outside profile that comes off the coil edge, and we will say so on the drawing review.
Do you inspect every part or sample?
Dimensionally we measure on a defined frequency and on every tool correction, plus a final check on the critical features. Visually, every part is looked at. If your drawing calls for 100 percent dimensional inspection, we quote it that way.
What report do we get?
A dimensional report listing nominal, tolerance and actual value for the critical features, with the material certificate. The report number is linked to the batch you receive.
What happens if parts are out of tolerance?
The press stops, the tool is corrected, the suspect parts are quarantined and sorted. Rework or replacement is on us, and you get the report that says what happened.
