You send the drawing. We machine the collet. Every dimension is checked against your file before shipment. No surprises.

This is a 20-type collet for auto lathes, designed to grip round bar stock from Ø3 mm to Ø20 mm. We hold concentricity within 0.005 mm TIR. Surface finish is Ra 0.4 or better on the bore and taper.

  • Tolerance: ±0.005 mm on bore, ±0.01 mm on taper angle
  • Lead time: 7–10 working days for standard sizes
  • No MOQ — order one piece or one thousand
  • Material: 20CrMnTi or 65Mn, carburized and hardened to 58–62 HRC
  • Made in China, fully inspected, export-ready packaging

We are a precision manufacturing factory in Dongguan. Twenty years of CNC machining, stamping, springs, and heat sinks under one roof. Your collet is not a side job. It is our core work.

Custom CNC Collet Chuck 36 Type Hex Bore Auto Lathe Parts

We use CNC lathes for the blank, then precision internal grinders for the bore and taper. Slots are wire-cut for clean edges and consistent flex. Every collet is tested with a master bar before it leaves the line.

Three reasons buyers send us their drawings

1. Batch-traceable quality. Each batch gets a unique heat number and work order. We record material certs, heat treatment parameters, and final inspection data. If a problem appears in your production, we can trace it back to the exact melt and machine shift. No guesswork.

2. Inspection report per batch. You get a dimensional report with every shipment. Bore diameter, taper angle, concentricity, hardness — all measured and signed by our QC lead. We also include photos of the CMM screen for critical dimensions. This is not a generic certificate. It is your actual part data.

3. One factory for CNC + stamping + spring + heatsink. Your collet is often part of a larger assembly. We also make the springs that push the collet, the stamped parts that hold it, and the heatsink if your spindle runs hot. One purchase order, one quality system, one shipping date. Fewer vendors, fewer delays.

Where these parts are used

20-type collets are standard in automatic lathes and Swiss-type machines. You will find them in:

  • Precision shafts — motor shafts, pump shafts, printer rollers. The collet holds round bar while the tool turns the OD and cuts threads.
  • Connectors and fittings — brass or aluminum bar stock for pneumatic fittings, hydraulic couplings, and electrical terminals. The 0.005 mm concentricity keeps the hex or slot aligned.
  • Medical device components — small titanium or stainless pins, bone screws, and dental implant parts. The collet must repeat within microns over thousands of cycles.
  • Fastener production — screw blanks, rivets, and standoffs. The collet’s spring steel slots grip tightly without marking the bar surface.
  • Automotive fuel parts — injector needles and valve guides. The taper angle accuracy ensures the collet seats correctly in the spindle nose, preventing vibration at 10,000 rpm.

If you machine round bar stock on an auto lathe, this collet is the interface between your spindle and your part. Get it wrong, and every part is wrong. Get it right, and your cycle time stays stable.

Questions buyers ask before ordering

Q: Is there a minimum order quantity? A: No MOQ. We make one piece for prototype validation or 5,000 pieces for production. The unit price drops with quantity, but the first article is always inspected the same way.

Q: How do you guarantee tolerance and quality? A: We grind the bore and taper in one setup to eliminate runout. Then we measure with a CMM (Zeiss) and a calibrated air gauge. The inspection report is included in the shipment. If any dimension is out of spec, we remake the part at no cost.

Q: What is the lead time for a custom CNC collet chuck? A: Standard 20-type collets ship in 7 working days. Custom tapers or special slot patterns take 10–15 working days, depending on heat treatment cycle. We can rush a single piece in 72 hours for an extra fee.

Q: Can you provide material certificates? A: Yes. We supply mill certificates for the raw material (20CrMnTi or 65Mn) and our own heat treatment report showing hardness and case depth. Third-party testing (SGS or BV) is available at cost.
