Opening

Your drawing defines the geometry. We define the tolerances. This 36 Type Hex Bore Extended Collet is machined from your exact specifications, not from a stock catalog. Every unit is verified before shipment with a full dimensional report. If it doesn't match your print, it doesn't leave the factory.

At a glance: Tolerance ±0.005 mm on bore and hex dimensions, surface finish Ra 0.4 µm, lead time 7–10 working days, no MOQ. One piece or one thousand pieces, same process control.

Specifications

We run these collets on Citizen and Tsugami CNC auto lathes, then finish the hex bore with wire EDM for zero burr. Material is sourced with mill certs. Hardness is checked on every batch.

Three reasons buyers send us their drawings

1. Batch-traceable quality. Every collet gets a unique batch number. Heat treatment records, material certs, and inspection data are linked to that number. If a problem appears in your spindle after six months, we can trace it back to the exact melt and heat treat cycle. No guesswork.

2. Inspection report per batch. You get a CMM report with actual measured values, not just a pass/fail stamp. We measure hex width, concentricity, and surface finish on three samples per batch minimum. For critical dimensions, we measure 100% of parts. The report is emailed with your shipment.

3. One factory for CNC, stamping, springs, and heat sinks. Your collet chuck is not an isolated part. If your assembly also needs a spring retainer, a stamped housing, or a heat sink for the drive motor, we make them under the same roof. One purchase order, one quality system, one shipping date. You avoid the chaos of coordinating three suppliers.

Where these parts are used

The 36 Type Hex Bore Extended Collet is built for high-speed rotary applications where a standard round bore cannot grip the workpiece. Common uses include:

  • Swiss-type lathe guide bushings for hex bar stock in medical screw manufacturing. The extended nose reaches deep into the guide bushing area, reducing bar vibration.
  • Rotary transfer machines for automotive fuel injector bodies. Hex bore holds the part against torque during cross-drilling, eliminating the need for a secondary milling op.
  • CNC tool holders for hex shank end mills and taps. The extended design allows the collet to clear deep pockets in the tool holder body.
  • Pneumatic actuators where a hex drive shaft must be gripped without marring the surface. The hardened bore resists wear from repeated insertions.
  • Custom automation fixtures for hex-headed fasteners in assembly lines. Extended length provides clearance over protruding threads.

If your application involves hex stock, hex shanks, or torque transmission, this collet is the interface that makes it repeatable.

Questions buyers ask before ordering

Q: Is there really no MOQ? A: Correct. We machine one piece for prototype validation at the same per-unit cost structure as a 100-piece run. The setup is the cost driver, not the quantity. Many buyers order 2–3 pieces first to test fit and runout in their spindle.

Q: What tolerance can you hold on the hex bore? A: ±0.005 mm on width across flats is our standard. If your drawing calls for ±0.003 mm, we can hold it with wire EDM and a final hone pass. We will confirm capability before quoting. We never accept a print we cannot hold.

Q: What is your actual lead time? A: Prototypes ship in 7 working days. Production runs of up to 1,000 pieces ship in 10 working days. Larger orders add 3–5 days for heat treatment and grinding. We quote the exact date with your order confirmation, not a vague promise.

Q: Do you provide material certificates and heat treat reports? A: Yes. Every batch includes a mill certificate for the raw material and a heat treat report with hardness values. These are included free of charge. Third-party inspection (SGS, BV) is available at cost.
