This is a CNC machined auto lathe 52 type hex bore spring collet, built for gripping hexagonal bar stock in sliding-head and fixed-head automatic lathes. You get a guaranteed 0.005 mm total indicated runout (TIR) at the gripping diameter, a surface finish of Ra 0.4 µm, and a hardened body at HRC 58-60 that holds its geometry through 200,000+ cycles. Lead time is 10-15 working days for standard sizes, and we ship worldwide from our Dongguan factory.
Hex stock spins and slides differently than round bar. A round bore collet only contacts the flats at two points, causing vibration and marking on the workpiece. Our 52 type hex bore spring collet uses a fully formed hexagon pocket with 120° angular spacing, matching the bar’s cross-section exactly. That distributes clamping force across all six flats, reducing bar push-back by 30% compared to round bore equivalents. For your auto lathe running at 6,000 RPM, this means fewer rejected parts and longer tool life.
We start with 20CrMnTi alloy steel, a case-hardening grade common in precision manufacturing. After CNC machining the bore and slots, we carburize to a case depth of 0.8-1.2 mm, then quench and temper to a surface hardness of HRC 58-60. The core stays at HRC 35-40, giving the collet enough springback flexibility to open and close without cracking. We do not use 12L14 or 1215 free-machining steel here—those grades wear out too fast for production environments.
Spring collets fail when the slots are too wide (lose concentricity) or too narrow (no compression range). We laser-cut three slots at 120° apart, each 0.3 mm wide and 25 mm long, stopping 8 mm from the back face. This gives a compression range of 0.2 mm on the hex dimension, enough to handle bar tolerance variations from your supplier. The slot edges are deburred to a 0.1 mm radius, so they won’t scratch the bar during high-speed loading.
Every single collet—not a random sample—goes through three checks before leaving our Dongguan plant. First, a CMM verifies the hex bore profile against your drawing. Second, a test chuck measures TIR at 20 mm and 50 mm from the nose, recording both values on the inspection report. Third, a hardness test confirms HRC 58-60 on the gripping surface. If any collet fails, we scrap it. You receive a signed report with each order, which simplifies your incoming QC.
Our 52 type hex bore spring collet fits the standard DIN 6343 mounting pattern, so it works directly with Star, Citizen, Tsugami, and Hanwha sliding-head lathes. It also fits many Taiwanese machines like JSL and Fidelity. If you have a non-standard spindle nose, we machine the back taper and thread to your spec—this is a custom option with a 5-day lead time extension. Send us your current collet chuck drawing, and we match the pull-back distance exactly.
Standard hex sizes from 3 mm to 32 mm are stocked in common increments (3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 19, 22, 25, 32 mm). For odd sizes like 7.5 mm or 11 mm, we machine the bore to your drawing with the same 0.005 mm tolerance. We also make square, triangular, and double-D bore shapes from the same 52 type body. The minimum order for custom shapes is one piece—this is a no MOQ policy that applies to every product we ship.

No MOQ—we accept a single piece order for both standard and custom hex sizes.
Yes, we machine any hex dimension from 3 mm to 32 mm to a +0.005 / -0.005 mm tolerance, with a 7-day lead time for one-off custom bores.
Every collet is individually inspected with CMM, TIR test, and hardness check—no batch sampling, and you get a signed inspection report with each shipment.
Stocked sizes ship in 10-15 working days; custom sizes add 5 days for machining, and express shipping is available for urgent orders.
